the win-loss record isn't that important to me. the bright side
(IMHO) is that we now have a coach who is a great recruiter, who can
instill confidence in his team and turn "average" players and walk-ons
into a hard-working tough-minded team, and who is a fanatic about
excellence in basketball just like the fans of the BBN.
this season started pretty rocky and I was willing to accept a much-
less-than team after the first few games where our lack of
talent was clearly evident. now that BillyG has the team on a winning
streak, using the same players he started with that seemed like all
they could manage was a dismal season back in December but have now
been transformed, is frankly amazing.
rather than looking hard for a "bright side" to this seasons W-L
record, I instead see a future that is so bright we need sunglasses.
After a year or two of BillyG recruits, who have been brought up in
the Gillespie system rather than having to be begrudgingly switched to
it after being dumbed-down by Tubby in previous sytems, is going to
give UK fans lots and lots of fun basketball and some titles down the
road.
its like we've left the medieval times of the dark ages and entered
into the Renaissance. Long live BillyG. We're gonna be back in the
hunt for championship #8 real soon. Its good to be us right now.
