> ARIZONA at OREGON STATE
UA - 30, OSU - 24
The way OSU has turned the ball over to self-destruct is alarming. The
INT's and fumbles are killing them. Until the Beavers show they can hold a
lead they are off my picks list. The Wildcats offense has finally showed up
with nothing fancy but they are putting up lots of points. I like UA in
what some would call an upset. I think it's just a logical outcome. The
OSU rushing game will keep it close, but not be enough to overcome the flaws
in the passing game.
> ARIZONA STATE at WASHINGTON STATE
ASU - 40, WSU - 16
The Sun Devils pass D will be all over WSU's pass receivers. The ASU
offense has been able to score a bunch even though they haven't faced a
top-tier team yet. Brink is the Cougars' only hope, and that won''t be
enough against a talented and well coached ASU squad. Erickson's return to
the Palouse should be a big win allowing the Sun Devils to celebrate
becoming bowl eligible with a 6-0 record.
> STANFORD at USC
USC - 42, Stanford - 3
The Trees are big, strong, and play hard. The QB situation will force them
to run more and do a lot of play action pass stuff. With three good
recievers, Stanford has the ability to move the ball. The question is - Can
they score much against the Trojan defense? The Trojans are back home and
have the option to rest their injured in a game that should be over by
halftime. If this game goes true to form the Trojans could set a sack
record against the league's worst pass protection team. USC will run at
will and work on fine-tuning their passing game. I'm picking a low score
for Stanford because last year's game was a shutout at The Farm. Fight On!
> Notre Dame at UCLA
UCLA - 38, ND - 17
Picking the lesser of two evils is not easy. After five games Notre Dame's
offensive genius has figured out how to score on offense. But the Bruins
will force the Irish QB to scrammble and toss INT's all night. The
Bru-Babes are schizo and you never know which team will show up. One thing
is for sure - UCLA will sack Clausen and send him back to South Bend to sulk
another week. (Word is Clausen has been walking around campus with a hooded
sweatshirt covering his face up and with his head down.) Oh yeah - One
other thing. Hating UCLA is just part of being a Trojan, while hating Notre
Dame is just part of being human. This pains me - but - Go Bruins!
